Landis

Kay Landis of Plainfield died Sunday. She was 68.

Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Marion County, she was one of five children born to the late Arthur B. “Bud” Chamberlin and Betty J. Weese Cross. She was married to the late Paul E. Landis for 32 years.

Mrs. Landis operated a florist shop on U.S. 40, near Dan Jones Road, in Plainfield for a few years. She also worked briefly at the Meijer stores in Avon and Mooresville.

She volunteered numerous hours and befriended many people at Damar Services. She attended and was a member of Mount Gilead Christian Church in Mooresville. 

Survivors include children Belinda White of Plainfield, Tammy Dunn of Indianapolis, Teresa Purvis of Greenfield, and Ed Landis of Monrovia; sisters Betty Chamberlin of Martinsville and Linda Garrett of Greenwood; a brother, Robert Reeves of Texas; grandchildren Andrea Jessup, Michael Lee, Joshua White, Crystal White, Jessica Dunn, Jennifer Dunn, Justin Dunn, Kendra Purvis, Nathan Purvis, Kyle Purvis, Kara Purvis, Hannah Purvis, Delaney Purvis and Jonathon Paul Edward Purvis; and great-grandchildren Cameron Dowell, Kyara Dunn, Mikyah Dunn, Michael Elijah Dunn and Dillon Jones.

Preceding her in death were a stepfather, Robert Cross;  a sister, Rose O’Brien;  a son who died at birth, Randall Wayne; and a grandchild, Shelly Lee.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Calling at the funeral home is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
