Kenneth D. Galyan


— Kenneth D. Galyan of Mooresville died Tuesday. He was 91.

Born Jan. 22, 1922, in Bloomington, he was a son of the late Harry and Pinkie (Clark) Galyan. He married Flora Mink Sept. 27, 1941, and she survives.

Mr. Galyan served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II. He was vice president of the Galyan Trading Post in Plainfield for nearly 20 years until the mid-’70s. He had previously owned a Marathon Gas Station at the intersection of 16th and Montcalm streets and worked as a guard for the Indiana Department of Corrections.

He had enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending flea markets.

Additional survivors include sons Don Galyan and wife Linda of Mooresville, and Steve Galyan of Plainfield; a daughter, Carolyn Kasserman of Acton; a brother, Millard Galyan of Plainfield; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were brothers Albert, Paul, and Harold Galyan, and a sister, Mary McDaniel.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
