Robert D. Wilkes Sr. of Danville died Saturday. He was 87.
Born April 3, 1925, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of Warren and Ethel (Brennisen) Wilkes. He married Beverly Stott, who preceded him in death. He later married Peggy Williams, who survives.
Mr. Wilkes served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. He had worked in sales, dealing in meat cutlery from 1965 to ‘98.
He was a member of the West Morris Street Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Additional survivors include his children, Karen Wilkes Patrick of Warsaw, Robert D. (Sue) Wilkes Jr. of Indianapolis, and Edward S. (Barbara) Wilkes of Hazelwood; stepchildren John (Gloria) Calhoon Jr. of Brownsburg, Sharon Scheider (Mike) Calhoon of Greentown, Jim (Terri) Calhoon of Indianapolis, and Jeff Calhoon of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are noon Saturday at the West Morris Street Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Skaneateles, N.Y. at a later date.
Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the church.
