The Rev. Daniel J. Kacer

The Rev. Daniel J. Kacer of Brownsburg died Wednesday. He was 77.

He worked as a youth counselor at the YMCA for 10 years and then served as a Lutheran pastor for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsburg and the Rotary Club.

Rev. Kacer enjoyed golf, the Chicago Bears, and Indiana Hoosiers basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kacer; children Michael (Tacy) Kacer, Yvonne (Larry) Higashi, and Erika Kacer; a brother, Michael (Janet) Kacer Sr.; a sister, Amelia Canner; and grandchildren Alexandra, Tanner, Rachel, and Kacer.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsburg.

Calling is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Concordia Theological Seminary, c/o Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 701 E. Tilden, Brownsburg, IN 46112.
