Charlene M. Shumaker of Plainfield died Friday. She was 87.
Born May 16, 1925, in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Barlow) McClain.
Mrs. Shumaker earned a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and a masters degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a librarian at the Cleveland Public Library.
Survivors include a son, Craig Shumaker; grandchildren Adam, Allison, and Brad Shumaker; and a great-grandchild, Anna Vera Lageras.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard B. (Dick) Shumaker; a brother, Joseph Warner McClain; and a twin sister, Geraldine McClain.
Services are 1 p.m. Jan. 16 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
