Roberta (Record) Craft Lewis

Roberta (Record) Craft Lewis of Danville died Wednesday at Manor Care at Prestwick. She was 79.

Born June 10, 1933, in Jasper County, she was the daughter of Harry “Jack” and Benita (Petry) Record.

Mrs. Lewis was a 1950 New Winchester High School graduate. She was secretary for the Hendricks County Highway Department for 10 years and was elected Danville’s town clerk/treasurer and served 11 years. She retired from the Indiana Department of Family and Social Services in Indianapolis.

Her memberships included Northview Christian Church in Danville, where she was a charter member; Daughters of the American Revolution; and the Hendricks County Republican Women’s Club.

She served as secretary of the Danville Community School Corporation Band Parents Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry (Larry) Waterman of Coatesville and Teresa (William) Johnson of Brownsburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathie Bush of Pittsboro.

She was preceded in death by ex-husband Donald Craft and husband Billy H. Lewis, and two sisters.

Services are 2 p.m. Jan. 14 in Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Danville, with visitation there from noon until time of service. Burial will be in New Winchester Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
