Kenneth D. Bastin of Plainfield died Monday at Manor Care at Prestwick. He was 78.

Born on April 27, 1934, in Paragon, he was a son of the late Gilbert Emery and Ruth Virginia Hite Bastin.

He worked several years as an employment counselor and was a member of the Whitaker Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Elizabeth Cooper Bastin; children Kim Hansford of Bloomington, Kay Gauger of Vincennes, Kristy Dale of Vincennes, Dori Fritz of Plainfield, Karen Patterson of Plainfield, and Jennifer Robinson of Greenwood; sisters Deloris (Sookie) Ellis of Avon, Sandy Tolle of Brownsburg, and Ginger Fowler of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield, with cremation to follow.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
