— Dr. P. Thomas Maloney of Plainfield died June 7 at The Gathering Together. He was 81.
Born Aug. 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Thomas R. and Esther Dwigans Maloney. He married Jeanine K. Harwood on Aug. 15, 1959, in Elmhurst. She survives.
Mr. Maloney received his optometry degree from Indiana University. He also served in the U.S. Navy. He served as an optometrist in Plainfield for 37 years before retiring in 1998. He helped Voluntary Optometric Services for Humanity donating glasses to third world countries for more than 20 years.
He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church and the Plainfield Lions Club.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived sons, David Paul Maloney of Greenwood, Phillip Gregory (Dawn) Maloney of Texas; granddaughters, Kyla Maloney and Kaitlin Harris; sister, Sally Ann Discher; brother, Stephen Maloney.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by a brother, Phillip Maloney.
A funeral mass was held June 12 at St. Susanna Catholic Church. Father Glenn O’Connor officiated.
Internment with military rites followed at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
