Helen “Louise” (Overton) Blum Thompson died April 24. She was 92.
Born July 8, 1921, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel Mae (Burton) Overton. She married Arthur E. “Bud” Blum Jr. He preceded her in death. She married Harold M. “Bud” Thompson and he survives.
Mrs. Thompson graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis in 1939. She and her first husband owned and operated Danville Florist for many years. She was employed as a medical insurance secretary for three doctors in Phoenix from 1970 to ’85.
When she retired, Mrs. Thompson moved to Sun City, Calif., to take care of her mother and step-father. She then returned to Danville in 1993 and married her second husband.
She was active in the community and a member of Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church in Avon for the past 20 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Norman (Dana) Blum of Marion; grandchildren, Brian (Kerry) Blum, Kristi (Marty) Blair, Brett (Aleta) Blum; seven great grandsons, Alan, Andrew, Aaron, John, and Ronan Blum, Jonah and Micah Blair; step-children, Mark (Ginny) and Keith (Rhonda) Thompson; and two step-grandchildren, Lindsey and Scott Thompson.
A memorial service will be held in July at Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
