Mary Brown Hobbs of Plainfield died last Friday. She was 89.
Born July 31, 1923, in Pleasant Hill, La., she was a daughter of the late James Charles and Cleopatria (McNaughton) Brown.
The family moved to Greenwood, where she graduated from high school and went on to Butler University. Besides being a homemaker, she worked for L.S. Ayres and Co., Curtis Wright Engineering, Pictorial Publishers, and Projected House of Sound.
She was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority and Plainfield Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas P. Hobbs; sons James Hobbs and wife Cheryl and Fred Hobbs and wife Debbie; a brother, Wilder Brown; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Calling is for three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
