Robert K. 'Bob' Brown of Bargersville

Robert K. “Bob” Brown of Bargersville died Friday at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was 83.

Born May 29, 1930, in Huntington, Ind., he was the son of the late Abner and Lillian (Wiles) Brown. He married Rose M. (Couch) Brown on Dec. 29, 1956, in Patriot, Ind. She died July 8, 2011.

Mr. Brown retired in 1992 as manager of telecommunications for Public Service Indiana after almost 30 years. He had been a ham radio operator and was a weather watcher for WTHR Channel 13 while living in Hendricks County.

His memberships included Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Franklin, where he taught Sunday school, and Belle River Masonic Lodge 327 in Vevay. He was a former member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield and was a former Episcopal lay minister trainee and Episcopal minister Catechist.

Survivors include two sons, John C. Brown (Hope) of Bargersville and James K. Brown (Maggie) of New York City; four grandchildren, Mandi Brown of Indianapolis and Gracie Brown, Caleb Brown, and Ellie Brown, all of Bargersville; and one great-grandchild, Jaiden Pollitt.

An infant twin brother also preceded him in death.

Services were Tuesday in Hopewell Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brad Moger officiating. Calling was two hours prior to services. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin was in charge of arrangements.
