Jackie Lee 'Jack' Bennington of Sebring, Fla.

Jackie Lee “Jack” Bennington of Sebring, Fla., died June 30 at his son’s home in Danville. He was 70.

Born July 29, 1942, in Linton, he was a son of the late William Roscoe “Jack” and Norma Lee (Byrd) Bennington.

Mr. Bennington was a graduate of Central High School in Mississippi and received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Phoenix College in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a self-employed building contractor and owned and operated Omega Development in Danville until retiring in 2003.

He was a member of the Spring Lake United Methodist Church in Sebring; and the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club, both in Phoenix. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Mr. Bennington served in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class.

He married Linda K. (Fultz) Bennington on Jan. 8, 1966, she she survives.

Additional survivors include sons Christopher Todd Bennington of Coatesville, Andrew Scott Bennington of Sebring, and Jeffrey Douglas Bennington and wife Angela of Danville; a daughter-in-law, Ria Bennington of Coatesville; a brother, David Bennington and wife Linda of Plainfield; sisters Linda Lou McGehee and husband Roger of Mississippi, and Lisa Donica of Franklin; grandchildren Brian Christopher, Arron Brandon, Austin Michael, Joshua David, and Madsyin Taylor Bennington; and a great-granddaughter, Jyden Lea Bennington.

Preceding him in death were brothers William Clayton and Bobby Wayne Bennington.

Services were July 13 at Hendricks County Senior Services, 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville, with military honors following.
