Damon B. Meredith of Mooresville died Monday. He was 89.
He was born in 1923 at Mammoth Cave, Ky. He married Virginia Ruth Crain and she preceded him in death. He later married Martha Turner and she survives.
Mr. Meredith was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army in Italy during World War II. He was a career employee of Diamond Chain Co. and was a longtime member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood.
Also surviving are a sister, Reta Moffett; a brother, Myron (Buck); a son, Dennis; daughters Phyllis Steele, Janice Scott, and Sandra Rodenberg; stepsons Tim Turner and Dan Turner; stepdaughters Janet Turner and Polly Shingleton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Leslie Woodrow, and a sister Rethel Jean Fiscus, also preceded her in death.
Services are 10 a.m. Aug. 30 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood, with visitation there 4-8 p.m. Aug. 29. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
