Rick McElyea of Danville died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was 51.
Born Sept. 13, 1961, in Indianapolis, he was a son of Joyce Baker and Jerry Patrick McElyea. He married Teresa Wallace on Oct. 2, 1982, at Northview Christian Church in Danville, and she survives.
Mr. McElyea graduated from Danville Community High School in 1980 and earned an associate’s degree from Lincoln Tech. He worked for DEEM, LLC in Indianapolis as a plumber and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Additional survivors include daughters Jaelynn (Joe) Harrold and Brooke McElyea; his mother, Joyce McElyea; granddaughters Teresa Rose and Olivia Grace Harrold; his brother, Jerry R. (fiancé, Michelle) McElyea; nieces and nephew Brittney, Kebra and Shane, all of Danville; his father-in-law, Bill Wallace; sisters-in-law Lynne (David) Hoffman, Mary Kaeser; a brother-in-law, Jim (Shannon) Wallace; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His father, Jerry McElyea, died in May 2012.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Baker Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Shawn Eldridge officiating. Interment will follow.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
