Judith Dorris Jackson Davis

Judith Dorris Jackson Davis of Plainfield died Friday in The Gathering Together at Plainfield. She was 72.

Born Aug. 1, 1940, in Highland, Ill., she was a daughter of Robert Lincoln and Mildred Edwards Dorris. She married R. Dale Jackson and he preceded her in death. In April she married Frank Davis and he survives.

Mrs. Davis graduated from Greenville (Ill.) College and earned her master’s degree from Indiana University. She taught English from 1961 to ’93 in Wayne Township and at Plainfield High School.

Her memberships included Plainfield United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Hendricks County Retired Teachers Association, and Plainfield Plus. She also volunteered for numerous community organizations and events.

Also surviving are her children, Susan Harvey and husband Mike and Steve Peters and wife Julie; stepchildren, Doug Jackson and companion Suzanne Steinger, David Jackson and wife Rita, Debbie Everman and husband Larry, Amie Jones and companion Jeff Stevens, Scott Davis and wife Mary, Todd Davis and companion Atanacio Garcia, and Frank Davis and wife Stacey; a sister, Marilyn Walker and husband Larry; and 14 grandchildren.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Nov. 3 at Plainfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Blosser officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Nov. 2 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.

Memorials may be made to the Judith D. Jackson Scholarship Fund at any Hendricks County Bank location, or to The Gathering Together, 147 N. Center St., Plainfield, IN 46168.
