William L. Bender died Oct. 16. He was 88.
He married Norma J. Campbell and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Bender retired from Eli Lilly as an executive after more than 35 years of service. He received several pharmaceutical and agrichemical patents. He was a decorated veteran of the 42nd Rainbow Division serving in WWII, American patriot, world traveler, conservationist, National Park Senior Corp volunteer, SCORE volunteer, Eiteljorg Museum docent, Grand Sycamore of Indiana State U.(class of 1949), Lions Club member, longtime member of Calvary U. M. Church, and numerous other organizations.
Survivors include his three daughters, Trudy Bender, Tresa Kautz, and Tauna Griffith; their spouses; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Brownsburg. Graveside services with military honors will take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg.
