Randolph L. “Duck” Poynter of Plainfield died March 2. He was 66.
He was the son of the late George and Majorie Poynter. He married Norma Jean Poynter and she preceded him in death. They were married for 35 years.
Mr. Poynter was a retired truck driver for Teamsters Local 135. He served in the U.S. Army and was a founding member of the Mooresville American Legion Post 103, lifetime member of the Mooresville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1111, and SAL Post 64 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Ivy) Poynter; stepchildren, Alan(Janie) Puett, Victoria Aydelott, Gary Puett; grandson, Ryan Puett; stepmother, Maude Poynter; sisters, Kathy (Lee) Seitz, Barbara Grimes, Georgia Kay Neal, Guywanna Brown; brothers, George(Jill) Jr. and Steve (Mike) Poynter; and his loving friend, Amy.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Judy Roth, Vickee Travis, Jimmy Grider, and Bobby Poynter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. March 7 in Flanner and Buchanan-Decatur Township. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. March 6 in the funeral home.
