Ronald D. Masten died Tuesday at the age of 78.
Born April 30, 1935, in Avon, he was the son of Loren and Ethel Mitchell Masten. He married Ramona Sparks on Oct. 4, 1959, and she survives.
Mr. Masten graduated from Avon High School in 1953, attended Purdue University, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer and a school bus driver for the Avon Community School Corporation, and served on the Hendricks County Extension Board, the Washington Township Advisory Board, Midland Co-op Board of Directors, and the Countrymark Co-op Board of Directors.
Also surviving are his children, Debbie (Steve) Larkin, Donna (Walter) Kegebein, Karen (Mike) Hayden, Bonnita (Tim) Whicker, Stacey (Chris) Bergstrom, and David (Tara) Masten; 19 grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Carlton, Lydia Gibbs, and Carol McGowan; and two brothers, John and Joe Masten.
Services are 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at Plainfield Christian Church, with visitation there 4-8 p.m. Nov. 8. Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel, is handling arrangements.
