Ronald L. Faulkner died Wednesday at the age of 78.
Born March 21, 1935, in Peoria, Ill., he was a son of the late Charles C. and Mildred L. Faulkner. He married Lucille E. Deyo and she survives. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September.
After moving to Indianapolis, Mr. Faulkner attended Broad Ripple High School before eventually graduating from Ben Davis High School. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserve and served on the U.S.S. Joy and U.S.S. Comstock before being honorably discharged in 1960. In 1986, he retired from Allison Gas Turbine after 30 years.
Mr. Faulkner was a charter member of the Southport Lions Club and charter president of the Danville Lions Club. He also served as Lions District C governor, with Gideon’s International, and was a member of New Winchester Baptist Church. For 28 years, he and his wife orchestrated the annual Lions Club Easter egg hunt at Ellis Park in Danville. Mr. Faulkner also took mission trips to Liberia, Africa, where he distributed medical supplies.
Also surviving are daughters Wanda (Dennis) Smith, Nadine (Gary) Jones, and Charlotte Faulkner (Fred Ferguson); sons Michael (Sherry), Floyd (Naomi), Ronald (Sandy), and Douglas (Elena); 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Steven; a brother, Charles; and a grandson, Nathan Jones.
Services are 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at Family Funeral Care Center in Indianapolis, with calling there 2-8 p.m. Oct. 7.
