Charles “Ray” Esamann


— Charles “Ray” Esamann of Avon died Friday at Avon Healthcare. He was 82.

Born May 29, 1930, in Indianapolis, he was a son of the late Charles G. and Ethel Daugherty Esamann. He married Betty L. Chambers in February of 1950, and she survives.

Mr. Esamann held various positions at Eli Lilly Co. before retiring in 1991 after 39 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Westside Knights of Columbus and was active in CYO basketball. He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield.

Additional survivors include sons Terry Esamann and wife Sherry and Mike Esamann and wife Ingrid; a brother, Harold Esamann; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield with Father Glenn O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
