Owen S. Stamper of Danville died Feb. 25. He was 89.
Born July 3, 1924, in Danville, he was the son of the late C.O. and Anna L. (Hall) Stamper. He married Lucille M. Parker on Feb. 21, 1947, in Maplewood. She survives.
Mr. Stamper was a graduate of Danville High School. He was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Danville for 22 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Danville Christian Church, a charter member of the Hendricks County Historical Society, the Danville American Legion Post 118, and the U.S. Army 11th Armored Division Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Marcia S. Routh of Danville, Margery E. Hildebrand of Springville, Tenn., Mara Lynn Richardson of Paris, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles S. Stamper, infant Carlious Stamper Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ellen (Stamper) Emmert Duff.
Services will be at 11 a.m. March 1 in Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in the funeral home.
