Leona M. Wathen of Lizton died March 28 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. She was 81.
Born Dec. 4, 1931, in Pittsboro, she was the daughter of Clement and Pearl Frances (Vaughn) Heiston. She married Robert N. Wathen on Sept. 11, 1950, and he died Sept. 11, 1998.
Mrs. Wathen was a cook at Tri-West High School for many years and was a homemaker. Her memberships included St. Malachy Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 331, both in Brownsburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Wathen Johnson and Kathy Wathen Perronie (Brent); nine grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her parents and a son, Thomas L. Wathen, also preceded her in death.
Services are 10 a.m. April 2 in St. Malachy Catholic Church. Burial will be in K of P Cemetery in Lizton. Calling is 2-8 p.m. April 1 in David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple St., Pittsboro.
