Shirley (Bixby) Hilderbrand of Danville

Shirley (Bixby) Hilderbrand of Danville died March 20. She was 89.

Born Oct. 4, 1024, in Sterling, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Royal “Roy” and Clara (Preston) Bixby. She married Charles L. Hilderbrand in 1948. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Mrs. Hilderbrand graduated from Lyndon High School in Lyndon, Ill., American Institute of Commerce, and Midland Radio School. She had been an airline radio operator for Delta Airlines for several years. She was the secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture prior to retirement.

She was a member of Danville Friends Church, Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution, and Indiana Society of Mayflowers Decedents.

Survivors include her son, Kevin R. (Julie) Hilderbrand of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Adam (Brooke) Hilderbrand and Elyse (Matt) Reedy, all of Brownsburg; and one great grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hervey Bixby; and a sister, Edryss Holt.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Hendricks County Meals on Wheels or Danville Friends Church.
