Ithel D. “Bud” Shoemaker of Plainfield died Sunday. He was 90.
Born Oct. 2, 1922, in Forest, he was a son of the late Ellsworth and Geneva (Dick) Shoemaker.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He earned a BA and Master’s degree from Indiana State University and received an honorary doctorate degree from DePauw University
Mr. Shoemaker was a teacher/administrator at Arsenal Technical High School for 30 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church. He was also a long-time volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award.
Survivors include a son, Mark R. (Ruth) Shoemaker; a daughter, Devonna Sue Morra; and grandchildren Rick, Kathy and Missi.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Delsie Lee (McQueary) Shoemaker.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment and committal services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo.
