Estel F. Poe of Plainfield

Estel F. Poe died Sunday at his Plainfield home. He was 82.

Born May 5, 1930, in Monticello, Ky., he was a son of Charles Fred and Lulu Upchurch Poe. He married the former Virginia York and she survives.

Mr. Poe was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked 34 years as an inspector for GM Truck and Bus before retiring in 1991.

After retirement his love and passion was taking care of his numerous animals and horses at his small farm.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Poe; a daughter, Brenda Powell-Lozano and husband Jorge Lozano; stepchildren Kathy Choate and Ron Clark; a sister, Doris Norris and husband Bill; grandchildren Estel Powell and Justin Powell; great-grandchildren Caden and Ethan Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were brothers Glen, Eldred, and Haskell Poe and a sister, Deva Poe.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in

Plainfield. Graveside services will be at the Elks Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Ky.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
