Hendricks County Flyer
Dorothy “Janie” Dodge Billingsley of Brownsburg died Sunday. She was 71.
Born Feb. 19, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Irene Bankes. She married Clifton D. Dodge and he preceded her in death. She later married Johnny Billingsley and he survives.
Mrs. Billingsley graduated from Skyvue High School in Ohio, Lipscomb University, and Ohio Valley University.
She spent her life encouraging students from the New Mexico Indian reservations where she began her teaching career to West Muskingum High School in Zanesville, Ohio. She retired in 2004 after serving as a high school counselor for 13 years.
She was involved in Hendricks County Extension Service and was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Additional survivors include a son, Shane Dodge (Kim); a brother, Tom (Denise) Hendershot; stepchildren Dawn (Mark) McKenzie, Debbie Cobb (Mark), Eric (Amy)Billingsley, amd Matt (Keely) Billinglsey; and grandchildren Zoey Dodge, Hannah Stevens, Ben Stevens, Nathan McKenzie, Annie McKenzie, Zhanna McKenzie, Ella McKenzie, Abigail Cobb, Brandon Cobb, Haley Billingsley, Jordan Billingsley, Cole Billingsley, Nathan Billingsley, Daniel Billingsley and Lydia Billingsley.
Services are 6 p.m. Thursday at Westlake Church of Christ in Indianapolis.
Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the church.
Additional services will be held in Woodsfield, Ohio, along with interment.
