Hendricks County Flyer
Daniel W. Meyer of Avon and formerly of Michigan City died Dec. 21. He was 97.
Born April 17, 1916, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Irma A. Meyer. He married Doris M. Stites and she preceded him in death. They were married for 66 years.
Mr. Meyer graduated first from his class at Drexel University in Philadelphia with a degree in engineering. He retired from Milton Roy Co., Hays Republic Division, and Michigan City on Dec. 31, 1981, as an administrative sales assistant after 36 years of service.
In the past, he had served as an adult advisor for B.S.A. Troop 10 sponsored by Sinai Temple and Explorer Post 113 sponsored by the Michigan City Fish & Game Club. He served three years on the United Fund Budget Committee, was past treasurer of the American Management Association and served three years as a sales advisor for Jr. Achievement Companies. He was past secretary-treasurer of the 76ers Golf League, a longtime volunteer for delivering Meals on Wheels, a life member of the Fish & Game Club, a past member of the Michigan City Senior Center and a present member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his three sons, Kenneth A. (Mary) Meyer, Douglas W. (Jane) Meyer, Bruce W. Meyer; four grandchildren; and multiple great grandchildren.
Private services were held for the family. Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield was entrusted with the arrangements.
