Jared Joseph Boyd died Tuesday at his Roachdale home following a 3 1/2 year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. He was 21.

Born Oct. 25, 1991, in Freeport, Ill., he was a son of Timothy W. and Loretta J. (Strunk) Boyd, who survive.

Mr. Boyd was a member of North Salem Baptist Church, having accepted Christ when he was 7.

He had studied at Indiana Baptist College in Greenwood. He enjoyed music and violin and was a summer staff worker at the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Additional survivors include brothers Tim Boyd and wife Rachel of Roachdale, Ben Boyd and wife Karina of Danville, Luky Boyd of Roachdale, and Jordan Boyd of Roachdale; sisters Katie Ciccarelli and husband Valentino of Pensacola, Fla., and Grace Boyd of Roachdale; maternal grandparents Robert E. and Lois Strunk Sr. of Roachdale; a paternal grandmother, Jean Gorman of New Castle; and a niece, Kinley Boyd.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at North Salem Baptist Church, 219 N. Ladoga Ave., North Salem. Interment will follow at Roachdale Cemetery.

Calling is at 4 p.m. Friday and again for an hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Bill Rice Ranch, 627 Bill Rice Ranch Road, Murfreesboro, TN 37128.
