Robert Eugene King died Jan. 5 in Naples, Fla. He was 85.
Born Aug. 24, 1929, in Jackson, Mich., he was the son of the late Lester and Nellie King. He married Rita R. Ritzheimer on Sept. 2, 1950, in Trenton, Ill. They were married for 63 years and she survives.
Mr. King served in the U.S. Air Force and was a manager in the insurance profession until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was active in coaching little league football and has officiated football at the high school and college level. He has been part of the chain crew for the Indianapolis Colts. He has also spent 30 years in the miniature horse business and has participated in horse shows.
Mr. King enjoyed fishing, tennis, and all sports. He spent his summers in Indiana and winters in Naples, Fla. He was an active Stephens Minister at the Putnam County Correctional Facility as well as in Naples.
He was a member of Whitestone Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Mike (Kathleen) and Tim (Jenea) King; daughter, Gayle (Steve) King-Miller; sisters, Joanna and Betty Ann; six grandchildren, Damon, Alisha, Joshua, Brieanna, Danika, and Tyler; eight great grandchildren, Caleb, Noah, Dominic, Takoda, Arianna, Jacob, Jackson, and Preston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene.
