Mary Ellen Bunn of North Salem

Mary Ellen Bunn of North Salem died June 15. She was 86.

Born Jan. 11, 1928, in New Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bowman and Edna Higgins Rooker. She married Frank Bunn Sr. and he preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2012.

Mrs. Bunn was a kindergarten teacher. She began teaching in 1968 then founded the Coatesville Christian Pre-school. The New Winchester Christian Church invited her to hold classes there in 1987 where she continued until her retirement after 25 years. She taught nearly 700 children during her time as a teacher.

She was a member of the New Maysville Community Church.

Survivors include daughters, Debra Bunn of New Hampshire, Beth Bunn of Bainbridge; daughter-in-law, Donna Bunn of North Salem; grandchildren, Ben Bunn, Michael Joe Bunn, Michael Andrew (Wendy) Rogers, Ginger (Larry) Claycomb; great-grandchildren, Hailey Rogers, Hunter Rogers, Tristan Claycomb, and Bethany Claycomb; step-grandson, Craige Phillips and family; and brothers, Robert Rooker of Bainbridge and J.B. Rooker of North Salem.

She was also preceded in death by son, Frank Bunn Jr; and a granddaughter, Miya Jo Bunn.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. June 20 in the New Maysville Community Church with the Rev. Larry Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the New Maysville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. June 19 in the Bousley-Hayes Funeral Home in Coatesville and one hour prior to services in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bainbridge Scholarship Fund, C/O Putnam County Community Foundation.
