Richard (Dick) Charles Wheasler of Plainfield died Dec. 20 in his home. He was 79.
Born April 19, 1933, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Florence and Ray Wheasler.
Mr. Wheasler spent his adult life working in construction and sales. His careers seamlessly combined his love of mechanical equipment and people. His hobbies included race cars, airplanes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, woodworking, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Darlene; sons Michael Hofer, Dennis (Rebecca) Hofer, Richard Wheasler Jr., and Robert (Lori) Wheasler; stepchildren Matthew (Amy) Wallace and Valerie (Dean) Lechner; sisters Barbara (Don) Helmick and Shirley Sellers; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his first wife of 45 years, Dorothy; a son, Patrick Hofer; a sister, Doris Caldwell; and brothers Alan Wheasler and Ray Wheasler.
A Celebration of Life is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 2 at Primo West, 2353 E. Perry Road, Plainfield.
Indiana Memorial Cremation & Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
