Doris Wean Andrews of Danville died April 15, 2014, at home. She was 85.
Born March 19, 1929, in Union City, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Blanche McNeely Wean. She married Robert “Andy” Andrews in 1955.
Mrs. Andrews graduated from Danville High School in 1947. She earned her education degree from IU Bloomington. She also earned a master’s degree from Butler University and a master’s of library science from IU Bloomington.
She taught for 42 years at New Winchester, Lizton, Plainfield, Danville, and Ben Davis high schools. She retired in 1995 and became involved with her artwork.
Her love for water painting flourished for the rest of her life. She loved painting scenes from her hometown of Danville and also painted many scenes of Indianapolis.
She is survived by her sons, Ted Andrews and Brad (Vicki) Andrews; sisters, Jane (Walt) Land, Ruth (Donald) Thomas; grandsons, Neil (Monaca), Kevin (Kacie), and Ian Andrews; and one great grandson, Michael.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. April 26 in the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity House in Danville.
