Dolores Hall Lowery of Plainfield died Monday after a long struggle with dementia. She was 91.
Born in 1921 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, she was the middle of three children born to the late Margaret Doyen and Earl Hall. After graduation from high school and business secretarial school, she went to work at Iowa State University where she met her future husband. In 1942, she married Oscar Horace Lowery of Lyman, Miss. He died in 1997.
Mrs. Lowery enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and teaching swimming lessons. She was active with the Welcome Wagon and Women’s Club. She was also the church secretary at Plainfield United Methodist Church and then worked at the Indiana State legislature, from which she retired.
Survivors include daughters Sue Leuschke, Janice Schmadeke and husband Kurt, and Eva Yount and husband David; grandchildren Graham, Kate, Sara, Eric, Kyle, Kelly, Scott, David, Julie, and Mike; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Plainfield United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Calling at the church will be for two hours prior to the service.
