Bobby Joe Hinman of Avon died Friday. He was 79.
Born Sept. 11, 1933, in Lyons, he was a son of the late Thurman and Norma (Skomp) Hinman.
Mr. Hinman graduated from Worthington-Jefferson High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a deputy sheriff for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department from 1970 until ‘83 when he began a new role as supervisor, working for the Marion County Family and Social Services Administration. He retired from there in 1998.
Survivors include his children, Lisa Pruett and husband Rick, Melanie Hinman, and Robert “Bobby” Hinman and wife Shelly; grandchildren Bryan, Erin and Chad; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Hinman and wife Maxine; and a step-brother, John D. Jones.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Jean (Hays) Hinman, and step-sister, Mary Nell Stahl.
Services are 6 p.m. Friday at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway.
Calling at the mortuary is for two hours prior to the service.
