The Rev. John Phillips Roof died Sunday at his Danville home. He was 75.

Born Sept. 11, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Virginia (Phillips) Roof.

The Rev. Roof was rector of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Danville from 1966 to 2009. He also served as president of the Senior Services board of directors, worked with Waycross/Hickory Hill Camp, and conducted weekly church services for more than 40 years at the Indiana Women's Prison.

Survivors include his wife, Midge; children John (Stacie) Roof Jr., Margaret Elizabeth Roof, and Joshua (Amy) Roof; and grandchildren Kelsey, Peyton, Jake, Megan, and David.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Episcopal Church. Interment will be at the church's Memorial Gardens.

Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
