The Rev. Paul W. Strietelmeier died June 8 in the Lakeview Manor Nursing Home. He was 85.
Born June 21, 1928, he was the son of the late Bill and Lenora Strietelmeier. He married Leta Strietelmeier and she survives.
Mr. Strietelmeier attended Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, Fla., and Indiana University in Bloomington. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He earned his combat infantryman badge with the 27th Infantry Regiment Wolfhounds.
He pioneered two churches in southern Indiana in Lyons and North Vernon. He pastored the Elletsville Assembly of God, New Castle Assembly of God, and First Assembly of God in Indianapolis for almost 20 years.
He contributed to starting two churches on the mission fields oversea. He has been an Assemblies of God minister for more than 60 years.
Additional survivors include one son, James (Pam) Wesley; one daughter, Tianne Lynn (Russell) Reed; and two grandsons, Logan Strietelmeier and Skyler Reed.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 13 in Conkle Funeral Home-Avon with the Rev. Johnny Garrison. Burial will be in Westridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. June 12 in the funeral home.
