Jean Overton of Indianapolis and formerly of Brownsburg died June 4 in University Heights Health and Living Center in Indianapolis. She was 80.
Born June 24, 1933, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Gladys Stanley. She married Leonard L. Overton on Aug. 5, 1951, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Overton was a homemaker. She became a real estate agent in the Indianapolis area for many years. She also worked as a writer for the Brownsburg Guide Newspaper and later became an avid student of the Hebrew language.
She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg and later Faith Baptist Church in Avon.
Survivors include her son, Leonard (Margo) Overton of Brownsburg; daughters, Denise (Rick) Jackson of Greenwood, Julie (Duane) Pulliam of Danville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Rosemary) Stanley of Seymour.
She was also preceded in death a daughter, Rebecca Newby; and siblings, William (Judy) Stanley, Martha (Claude) Blizard, and Myron (Jane) Stanley.
Private graveside services are being planned in Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown. Entombment will follow.
