John I. “Jack” Winters of Plainfield died Oct. 11. He was 78.
Born July 9, 1935, in Madison Wis., he was the son of John T. and Margie Larsen Winters. He married Roberta Kuenzli June 9, 1952 and she survives.
Mr. Winters graduated from Wisconsin University with a degree in civil engineering. He is a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for 37 years after starting in the water department. He retired as the chief civil engineer in the engineering division.
He was also an avid photographer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Loraine D. McCormick; grandchildren, Weslty, Christy, and Katy Smith; and a nephew, Nathan Retzlaff. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Winters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at the funeral home.
