James William Morgan of Danville died Monday at the age of 69.
Born Feb. 6, 1944, he was the son of John P. and Mary Morgan. He married Sally L. Cummins Chesney and she survives.
Mr. Morgan was a 1963 graduate of Danville High School. He owned Morgan's Engineering Supplies in Danville and Plainfield for 25 years, and had served as a medical courier for NOW Courier in Indianapolis for the past five years.
His memberships included Danville Christian Church; Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity; Indianapolis Optimist Club, where Gov. Otis Bowen honored him for his youth work; and the American Softball Association, of which he was in the hall of fame. Mr. Morgan also was a co-founder of the Indiana Legends softball team.
Also surviving are a son, James William Morgan II of Avon; a daughter, Maranda Morgan of Indianapolis; a stepson, Kristopher Chesney of Lebanon; a stepdaughter, Katrina Chesney Smith of Lebanon; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Nicole Morgan, and a brother, Fred Morgan.
Services are 11 a.m. Oct. 4 at Danville Christian Church, with visitation there 4-8 p.m. Oct. 3. Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Danville, is entrusted with arrangements.
