Eldon E. Proctor of Greencastle died Saturday, surrounded by his family. He was 86.
Born March 26, 1927, in Bainbridge, he was the son of Jasper and Stella (Lewellan) Proctor. He married Virginia (Clifford) Proctor on Sept. 23, 1950, and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2006.
Mr. Proctor was a 1945 Bainbridge High School graduate. He had retired from IBM and previously worked at Maplehurst and Allisons. He had also farmed for several years. He was an avid golfer and “snowbird,” having spent several winters in Sebring, Fla., with his wife.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. (Jody) Proctor of Greencastle; daughters, Cathy S. Proctor of Greencastle and Vicky L. Proctor of Plainfield; brother, Leo (Wilma) Proctor of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Beck, Ronnie (Amy) Proctor, and Jessica (Cory) Tinsley; and six great-grandchildren, Katie and Erynn Beck, Bailey, Saydee, and Codie Proctor, and Caden Tinsley.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Ivan, Edwin, Lois, and Gerald Proctor; and four sisters, Mary, Eula, and Esta Proctor, and Elva Christie.
Services are 10 a.m. April 3 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. April 2 at the funeral home.
