Oscar Samuel Davisson of Louisville, Ky., died Nov. 21. He was 97 and had formerly resided in Danville.
Born in Shoals, he was a son of Virgil and Mary Ann (Kail) Davisson
He earned his teacher’s license at Central Normal College and his masters in education at Butler University.
While residing in Danville, he taught school for 41 years at Avon, Clayton, and Fulton Junior High before retiring to Okeechobee, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Knott); children Paul Davisson and wife Jan of Jupiter, Fla., Sue Ann Teany of Okeechobee, Mary Babbs and husband Jeff of Indianapolis, Kathleen Cassity and husband Elvin of New Winchester, and Thomas Davisson and wife Debbie of Mishewaka; a step daughter, Brenda Staples and husband Randy of Louisville; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and numerous step grandchildren great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 56 years, Mary Kay Glazebrook; brothers Leland and Claude; sisters Opal (Lee) and Thelma (Tedrow); a son-in-law, Bob Teany; and grandsons Jeff Babbs and Brent Teany.
A funeral mass was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Okeechobee.
