Mary B. Western of Moultrie, Ga., died Thursday. She was 87 and had formerly resided in Cartersburg.

Born Jan. 11, 1925, in Ashburn, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Richmond H. and Floy (Ireland) Goff.

She worked 25 years at Diamond Chain before retiring in 1985.

Mrs. Western was a member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church and a lifetime member and past Worthy Matron of the Cartersburg Order of the Eastern Star No. 519.

Survivors include sons, Ernest Charles and wife Edith, Tony and wife Sandra, and Marty and wife Janet Western;  daughters Georgia Kittle and husband Max and Nancy Bentley; a sister, Thara Hamon; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Clarence Earnest Western; a son-in-law, Dan Bentley; and several brothers and sisters.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Cartersburg.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
