Erma Rose “Rosie” Fox of Plainfield died Tuesday at Golden Living Center in Bloomington, following a brief illness. She was 83.
Born April 9, 1930, in Ellettsville, she was a daughter of the late Frank Westmoreland Elliott and Elsie Mae (Headdy) Thomas.
She attended Stinesville Elementary School, where her sister, Leota Terman, was her teacher. She also attended Bloomington High School before marrying Dale V. Fox on March 23, 1946.
Mrs. Fox worked at Weir Cook Airport in Indianapolis many years ago, but most of her life was spent raising her family and working in the family business, Fox Excavating, as an accountant.
She was a member of the Eagles in Plaifield and enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and sewing.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Horne and husband Alan of Bloomington; grandchildren, Lisa Barnes and husband Kirk of Spencer, Robert Fox and wife Yoley of Plainfield, Todd Fox and wife Ann of Clayton, and Kathryn Horne and Emily Hall, both of Bloomington; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genelle Kearney Cole of Texas.
Preceding her in death were a son, Robert Dale Fox; a daughter, Carolyn Jo Fox; a grandson, David Dwight Horne; a great-grandson, Michael David Hall; sisters Catherine Parrish, Leota Terman and Lorean Edwards; and brothers Paul R., James Lowell, Charles and Herman Elliott and Winfred Headdy.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Clayton Christian Church, 5110 S. S.R. 39, Clayton. Interment will follow at Clayton Cemetery.
Calling is for an hour prior to the service at the church.
Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville is handling arrangements.
