— Charles Elmer Marsh of Brownsburg died Monday. He was 88.

Born Sept. 26, 1924, he was a son of the late Albert Russell Marsh and Gladys McPeak Marsh. 

Mr. Marsh was a lifelong resident of Hendricks County, retiring from the Brownsburg School Corporation in 1985.  In his youth, he worked as a butcher for his uncle, Raymond Dickey, at Dickey's Market in Brownsburg.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his former wife, Elizabeth Kopecky; daughters Charlotte (Leon) Monnett, and Ruth (Russell) Gray; sons Dennis, Dale (Janet Edwards), and Brian Marsh; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Wilson.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Russell Marsh.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg. Interment will be at Bethesda Cemetery.

Calling at the mortuary is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
