Sarah M. Callahan of Avon died Jan. 12. She was 85.
Born Oct. 25, 1928, in Stilesville, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Lillie (Siddons) Elmore. She married Roy Edward Callahan and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Callahan worked at Plainfield High school as a cafeteria worker and later as a custodian. She was also a floral arranger for Hendricks County Florist and later for Avon Florist. She was also a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon.
She is survived by sons, Dan (Polly), Doug (Vickie), Don (Hanh), and Derald (Cindy) Callahan; daughters, Kathy (John) Ditmer, Karen (Chuck) Deford, and Kaye (David) Pitcher; son-in-law, Kevin Shafter; sister, Dorothy Hochstetler; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, David Callahan; and daughter, Kelly Shafer.
Services will be 2 p.m. Jan. 18 in the West Bridge Church, 1521 S. County Road 75 W. in Danville. Burial will be in Stilesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield.
