David Allen Ogden died Tuesday at his Plainfield home. He was 69. Born Dec. 6, 1943, in Indianapolis, he was a son of the late James E. and Manie A. (Marsh) Ogden. He married Rosa Elayne Ogden on April 11, 2000, and she survives.
Mr. Ogden served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to ‘71 and was a gunner on the USS Hornet during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
He served as an officer with the Danville Police Department from 1971 to ‘77. He retired from PSI in Plainfield in 2001 and worked part-time at Hendricks Regional Health.
Mr. Ogden enjoyed creating images of his grandchildren on his computer.
Additional survivors include a brother, Donald W. Ogden of St. Cloud, Fla.; a son, Parrish A. Ogden and wife Maria; daughters Sonja I. Robertson and husband Lyndon of Benton, Ark., Christie L. Ogden of Benton, and Belinda M. McDaniel of Clearwater, Fla.; a step-daughter, April M. Land and husband Charlie of Coatesville; grandchildren Joshua Robertson, Mikki Robertson, Christian Ogden, Maggie Ogden, Brevin McDaniel, and Tristan Lee; step-grandchildren Ashley Land, Tyler Land, and Dayton Land; and a step-great-granddaughter, Aubree Rose Land-Heier.
Preceding him in death were brothers Oren, James, William, and Harold Ogden; and sisters Velma New, Rosa Lee McQuillin, and Juanita Lock.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Conkle Funeral Home in Avon.
Calling is for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
