William L. McCartney

William L. McCartney of Brownsburg died July 5 at the age of 80.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked 20 years as a sheet metal detailer for Sheet Metal Workers Local 20 before retiring in 1994.

Mr. McCartney was a 50-year member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge and belonged to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Martha McCartney; daughters and a son-in-law Paula and Steve Sackers, Pamela McCartney, and Vickie Barrick; sons and a daughter-in-law William F. McCartney, Kevin M. McCartney, and Sean P. and Cindy McCartney; stepsons and a step-daughter-in-law Patrick L. and Debbie Taylor and Daniel J. Taylor; a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Cindy A. and Gus Miceli; sisters and a brother-in-law Janet and Charlie Wade and Carolyn Julian; six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling at the mortuary is 4 to 8 p.m. today.
