Alma Pehota of Avon

Alma Pehota of Avon died Tuesday at Avon Healthcare Center. She was 93.
Born Jan. 20, 1915, in Windham, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Maxime and Rose Alma Pelletier Lemieux. She was the widow of Thomas Pehota and Henry N. Mercier Sr.
Mrs. Pehota was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Redman Lodge in Middleton, Conn., and the Living Hope Church in Avon. She served for 14 years at the St. Vincent De Paul soup kitchen in Connecticut.
Survivors include sons and a daughter-in-law, Hank and Bernice Mercier, Peter R. Mercier, Lawrence R. Mercier, and Dennis J. Pehota; a brother, Armand Lemieux; a sister, Rita Saflicki; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a twin sister, Emma Frappier, and a brother, Alfred Lemieux.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield with the Rev. Tony Portell officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
Calling at the funeral home is for two hours prior to the service.
