Betty J. (Surrett) Herbert of Avon

Betty J. (Surrett) Herbert of Avon died Sunday in Brownsburg. She was 77.

She was the widow of William Burnell Herbert.

Mrs. Herbert was a cafeteria worker for Howard County Public Schools.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there for 35 years. She was also a member of Sharon Baptist Church and West Friendship.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemarie Tomer; grandchildren Jennifer Austin and husband Michael, and Denny Williams and daughter Katie; great-grandchildren Kaylee Austin and Cameron Williams; brothers Vernon, Everett, and Frank Herbert Jr.; a sister, Ruth Meadows; a niece, Pat Mink; and an uncle, Everett McIntyre.

Services will be held in Maryland. Interment will be at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Lisbon, Mich.

Conkle Funeral Home in Avon is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
