Avon man earns Army promotion

U.S. Army Spc. Andrew R. “Drew” Kovacs was recently promoted to his current rank.

Kovacs has received orders for a permanent change of station to the 173rd Airborne/503rd Infantry unit in Vicenza, Italy, now deployed to Afghanistan for nine months.

On March 12, 2011, he married Jillian Serio in a park area near Fort Benning, Ga.

He is the son of Jeanette “Jett” Kovacs of Avon and James Kovacs of Plainfield. He is the brother of Caitlin “Cat” Kovacs of Miami, Fla., and Brianne “Bri” Kovacs of Avon.

His in-laws are Dennis and Jill Serio of Nashville and his brother-in-law is Anthony Serio of Indianapolis.
